There are some acts that are too cruel to call act of ignorance. How can people still carry out barbaric practices even on innocent children in the name of culture and tradition?  Things that did not go down well with our ancestors people of this age still carry them along as inheritance.
Few days ago, a man and his wife rushed their two weeks old twin babies to the hospital a girl and a boy, on the account of being very sick and they do not know why. 
Meanwhile, the boy had already died before they got to the hospital. None of the parents could give a proper history of what actually happened. The doctor came to examine them, and asked the mother to unwrap the baby she was carrying, to every one’s surprise, as she unwrapped, the kind of odour that first oozed from the baby, followed by about two or three Houseflies that flew out of the baby’s navel. On close examination, there were still maggots in the umbilicus and the baby’s temperature was so high. Even the dead twin was like that too.
On questioning the parents on how they cared for their umbilici, at first they tried to lie that they didn’t use anything, but later told the truth that the man’s mother had asked them to use a mixture of what she gave to them consisting of cow dung and other ingredients best known to the woman. That it was the mixture she used on her two children for the proper closure of the umbilicus.  These were babies delivered healthily in a hospital. Look at how parents cause trouble for their children

  •       First of all, to every parent, new born baby’s navel is to be cleaned with spirit and cotton wool only, 4 to 5 times daily until properly closed. Please nothing else should be added to the navel to avoid causing illness and killing your child with your own hands
  •          There are advice you should not take from your old parent and grandparents, especially those ones that did not go to school. Their olden days methods of caring for their children were some worth barbaric and some only survived by the grace of God.
  •       This is to our men, try and take part in the care of your new born babies, look in to some things being applied to these babies, ask questions and know how healthy those things are. Most times, it is the women that first bring in those abstract things to the house because they are the ones that take the lead in the care of the babies.

So many women that have gone through pregnancy have lost their chances of being called mothers because of the phrase ‘delivering like women of Hebrew’.   This ‘delivering like women of Hebrew was coined from the bible “ye shall give birth like the women of Hebrew” mean while it did not specify what kind of delivery women of Hebrew went through, whether it was caesarean section (through operation) or vaginal delivery.   Believe me, that these two processes are both considered acceptable and normal ways of giving birth to children in human beings, but some of our women here, consider vaginal delivery as the only normal way a woman should be put to birth and they also believe that it was the only way the Hebrew women gave birth.
