Convulsion in children can occur when there is a peak of body temperature (increased fever). Especially when the child has been showing signs of fever and nothing is done medically to calm the fever. Normally parents are usually being told of how to manage fever at home by first of all exposing the child (That is removal of the child’s clothes and allow air to touch the body). Then tepid sponging (That is the use of water at room temperature, not so cold water from the fridge please), then giving the normal dosage of antipyretic drugs (drugs that calm fever like paracetamol, ibuprofen etc.) if the fever continues, the child should be taken to the hospital.
But some parents do not follow these steps, instead they go for herbs, take advice from friends and neighbours who are not even, medically inclined. They listen to stories of how their grandparents used some awfully methods to take care of their feverish condition. And when it results to trouble, everyone will start crying and will suddenly remember that there is a building called hospital. And when they get there, they will expect the Doctors and nurses to perform miracles.
A boy was brought to the hospital with the history of fever and have convulsed once at home. The mother first took him to chemist to get drugs, and on their way back, they met their neighbor who advised the mother not to give those drugs they bought yet since it had reached the level of convulsion. That the only thing that would help them are herbs and onions.  The woman agreed and gave the boy the herbal juice then squeezed plenty onion juice into the boys eyes. The boy became restless and was shouting his eyes, still convulsed and the fever continue. He could not open his eyes. On arrival to the hospital, he was treated of the fever, he finally opened his eyes but could not see anything, he eventually became blind.

· Please my dear brothers and sisters, be wise when it comes to treatment of our children. Children are God’s gift, they are supposed to be treated preciously.
· The hospital does not bite, visit to help save our innocent children. Stop listening to barbaric advice from people and visit the hospital first please.
